Another interesting aspect of the Tuesday night screening at Light Industry was the realization that a documentary about the Freex is in the works. The filmmaker Jon Nealon was present in the audience, and seemed quite excited about the project. I recently received this email from him:
Hi all,
Thanks to everyone who signed up for the Videofreex documentary mailing list the other night.
We’ve been working on the film for a while now – gathering videotapes, conducting interviews, etc.
And we were quite happy to see the turnout for the screening of tapes at Light Industry on Tuesday.

More info on this docu:
"VideoFreex! relives the unique story of the most radical video collective of the 1970s. It is the quirky tale of nine people?s optimism and creativity, and their vision of what television could have become at a time when only three networks ruled the airwaves. The Videofreex embraced the revolutionary spirit of the time, uniting radical politics with new technology and visual experimentation. Videofreex! tells their whole story ? from their unlikely genesis to their road-trip across America documenting revolutions in progress, from their struggles with communal living to their creation of the nation?s first pirate television station. Comprised of interviews with the Videofreex, stock footage and video shot by the collective, the film is a layered and funny look at a tumultuous time through the lenses of the freex themselves.
